Houston Community College

Houston Community College required comprehensive acoustic and architectural finishes designed to support an active learning environment, and Satterfield & Pontikes Construction delivered an integrated solution across the entire campus. Under the leadership of project manager Sean Johnson, the team undertook a substantial 92,100 square foot project valued at $700,000, with 6,500 square feet designated as specialty installations. The scope of work was ambitious and multifaceted, encompassing acoustical ceilings throughout the facility, linear metal ceilings paired with exterior soffit solutions, thoughtfully placed pendants, echopanels for focused acoustic control, fabric-wrapped wall panels for visual warmth, and strategically positioned barrel diffusers for enhanced sound management. Completed in May 2022, this project demanded seamless coordination across numerous spaces, from classrooms to common areas and administrative zones, each requiring precise attention to acoustic performance and architectural detail. The team worked to ensure that every element worked in concert, creating learning environments where sound control enhances focus and concentration, and refined finishes establish spaces of quality and intention. When the final installations were complete, Houston Community College had been transformed into a facility where acoustic excellence and thoughtful design support the educational mission at every turn.
